Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was founded in 2008 and is one of the most successful franchises throughout the Indian Premier League (IPL). India Cements owns the squad and is captained by the legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni. The team has consistently performed well in the IPL, making it to the playoffs in every season they have participated in.
When CSK claimed their fourth league championship in 2021, MS Dhoni added another accomplishment to his resume. One of the four players kept by the club before the league’s 2022 season was MS Dhoni, who was paid INR 12 crore. MS Dhoni, a hitting juggernaut, can dismantle various bowling combinations himself. The gleaming trophies in the trophy cases at CSK are a testament to his exceptional leadership skills. His coolness and poise make for a deadly combo on the cricket field, along with a keen cricketing intellect.
For the league’s first eight seasons, he served as the face of the Chennai Super Kings, guiding them to two championships (in 2010 and 2011) and four runner-up results. He subsequently became the first player the Rising Pune Supergiant selected in the league’s ninth season. And once more, he was the first player kept by CSK before the 2018 IPL Player Auction. The league’s 2018 season came to a magical conclusion, with the Chennai Super Kings adding another gleaming prize to their collection. Under the direction of MS Dhoni, the CSK won the league’s 2019 season and advanced to the championship game. MS Dhoni retired after a 16-year, successful tenure with Team India, but he was spotted wearing the CSK colors again in 2020.

The three teams competing for this middle-order batsman were CSK, Delhi Capitals, and SRH. However, CSK eventually won the deal and got Ambati Rayudu for INR 6.75 crore. When Rayudu, once hailed as India’s upcoming batting prodigy, scored 177 runs as a 16-year-old against an England U-19 team in 2002, his existence was made known. Stints only boosted his image at the National Cricket Academy and a standout second domestic cricket season. Rayudu was retained by Mumbai Indians before the IPL 2011 restructure, which featured all IPL sides. Rayudu was a competitive batter. Because of his consistent success over the previous three seasons, MI retained Rayudu again before the 2014 IPL. In the 2015 season, Rayudu amassed 281 runs at an S/R of 145 and went undefeated five times. Rayudu, a reliable part of the Indian ODI team in the past, has bolstered the middle order of CSK.

Because of Jadeja’s continued enthusiasm for runs and wickets before the IPL 2022 season, CSK kept him on at the highest pay. The outstanding all-arounder was retained for INR 16 million. After the IPL 2018 Player Auction, CSK included him as their third player. Ravindra Jadeja was always there for MS Dhoni when he needed to break up a partnership, and the left arm frequently delivered. He gives Dhoni the extra room to play a second batter if required. Jadeja has been an enigma ever since he made his international cricket début. He participated in the 2008 World Cup in Malaysia for India’s U-19 cricket team, which took first place. His captain, Shane Warne, named him “Rockstar” for the IPL 2008 performance that helped Rajasthan Royals win the title. The player who paid Chennai Super Kings the most money in the 2012 IPL player auction was Jadeja, who went for about Rs. 9.8 Crore. Before joining CSK for the league’s eleventh season, Jadeja played for the Gujarat Lions for two seasons. He has been a crucial part of them ever since.

In the league’s 2022 season, the Kiwi all-rounder will once more represent the CSK. Santner, a capable bowler and helpful batsman, was purchased by CSK for INR 1.9 crore at the 2022 Mega Auction. Santner, a Kiwi spinner, was one of CSK’s most cost-effective purchases in 2018, going for just INR 50 lacs. When Daniel Vettori left the team, Santner was given his chance to play for New Zealand, and in just his first game, Santner wowed the judges with his bat rather than his ball-handling skills.
Santner has been a promising player since his start, despite experiencing some ups and downs in cricket. Santner is an excellent defender and a valuable hitter later in the lineup.

At the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, CSK paid INR 4 crore for Shivam Dube, a capable middle-order batsman and useful medium bowler. Because there is so much curiosity about this all-around player in the sale, Dube’s starting price of 50 lakhs increased to INR 4 crore. The Mumbai-born all-rounder has garnered attention for his fearless hitting and bowling performances. Before joining the Mumbai senior squad, Shivam Dube played juvenile cricket for his state. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in January 2016, he made his Twenty20 debut for Mumbai. A year later, he made his one-day début for the state side. On the closing day of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy encounter against Baroda, Dube made news by smashing five sixes in five balls off left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh, just days before the Player Auction leading up to the 2019 IPL. As one might expect, he drew fierce bidding at the sale and was ultimately acquired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a price of INR 5 cr. Shivam Dube joined Rajasthan Royals for INR 4.40 Cr. after playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore during IPL 2019 and IPL 2020. The Indian all-rounder is known for hitting the cricket ball cleanly and has some skill with the bat, thanks to his medium speed. Dube, who has participated in 24 IPL contests, is eager to flourish for the Chennai club in the 2022 IPL.

Rajvardhan, who is 19 years old, played for Team India in the U19 Cricket World Cup, which had just ended. Rajvardhan, a fiery fast bowler who can also bat for power and be used as a finisher, attracted much attention in the bidding room before being selected by CSK for INR 1.5 crore. Watching MS Dhoni make use of this kid’s skills will be fascinating.

For the 2022 season of the division, CSK boy Deepak Chahar is returning with the team. It was a competitive bidding battle for the swing spinner, with SRH and Delhi Capitals leading before RR and CSK joined them. CSK had decided to reinstate their player and had ultimately been successful in doing so for a cost of INR 14 crore. Deepak Chahar, a medium-speed born in Agra, played for the Rajasthan Royals in 2012, wearing the RPS uniform for two seasons before being acquired by the Chennai Super Kings in the league’s eleventh season. Chahar has advanced through the levels, and his capacity to swing the new ball both ways with control makes him significantly more dangerous at the summit. The buzz of the town has been Chahar’s recent exploits, a match-winning knock against Sri Lanka and a 34 ball 54 against South Africa. Chahar also can score valuable runs later down the order. The Chennai Super Kings selected Deepak before the 2018 season, and the medium-pacer had a breakout IPL season, claiming 10 wickets in 12 games. After that, he received a limited-overs cricket call-up from India as compensation.

The Chennai Super Kings acquired the mystery bowler from Sri Lanka at the 2022 Mega Auction for INR 70 crores, making him a part of the IPL in 2022. The 21-year-old young man garnered attention from both KKR and CSK, but CSK ultimately signed him to their squad. It will be intriguing to see how he is used here for the IPL, given that he has played in 15 T20I contests.
