History:
The Delhi Capitals, formerly the Delhi Daredevils, were among the eight founding teams of the Indian Premier League in 2008. Despite having some big names on their roster over the years, the team struggled to find success in the early seasons of the league. In 2019, the group underwent a significant overhaul, including a change in name, logo, and coaching staff. The rebranding worked, as the team reached for the first time in seven years.
Notable Players:
- Virender Sehwag: One of India’s most explosive batters, Sehwag was a key player for the Delhi Capitals during his time with the team. He scored over 2,000 runs for the team and was known for his aggressive batting style.
- Gautam Gambhir: Gambhir is another former Delhi Capitals player integral to the team during his tenure. He captained the team for a few seasons and led them to the playoffs in 2012.
Achievements:
Despite being one of the oldest teams in the league, the Delhi Capitals have yet to win an IPL title. However, they have made it to the playoffs on a few occasions, including in 2019 and 2020, where they finished as the runners-up in the tournament. In 2020, the team also recorded the highest total in an IPL match, scoring 228 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders. With a competent coaching team and a talented squad, the Delhi Capitals are a team to watch out for in the upcoming seasons of the league.

The dashing wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was one of the three players Delhi kept before the 2018 sale, and he returned the favor with a season in which he scored nearly 700 runs. While he did not receive the IPL Orange Cap, the Delhi Capitals kept the youthful player for the following two seasons, including the IPL 2020.
His batting was a strength for the team. Before the TATA IPL 2022, Rishabh was kept as the captain of DC. He has played in close to 2500 IPL innings and scored 115 fifty-plus boundaries. The youthful player is heading into this round of the competition after a stellar run of play for his country, and he will be hoping to continue that success for the Delhi Capitals.

Axar was the second most costly player for Delhi Capitals after being a fixture in the KXIP lineup. The team purchased him for Rs 5 crore at the IPL auctions ahead of the 2019 season.
Later, the Delhi team decided to keep him on for the IPL 2020 and IPL 2021. Axar significantly contributed to the team with the bat and the ball. - DOB : 28 December 1999
Kamlesh Nagarkoti, a seamer, was one of the shining stars of the 2018 U19 World Cup and appeared to be a talented fast bowler poised to excel. Even for the 2018 IPL season, he was selected for the KKR team. Unfortunately, a back injury forced him to miss more than a year of activity, most of that time spent in rehabilitation. While KKR did not instantly release him and offered him opportunities when he was healthy, he has since joined the Delhi Capitals after being acquired by the team for INR 1.10 Cr. The youthful player can let the ball fly and is a livewire on the field. DC will want him to do at least that during the TATA IPL 2022.

- IPL DEBUT:
Left-arm pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman arrived in Dhaka in 2012 to attempt his fortunes at a fast-bowlers program after doing well in an Under-17 competition in his hometown Satkhira.
He was accepted into the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s pace school and quickly attracted the coaches’ notice, earning a spot on the 2014 World Cup-bound Bangladesh Under-19 team. He lacked speed at first but developed it throughout the 2014–15 first-class season, during which he claimed 26 wickets.
Soon after, Mustafizur received an international call-up, and he immediately made an impression, making some of the finest in the industry appear uneasy around him. He had great success playing India in the Asia Cup of 2016, and his ability to produce excellent pace and his deceptively slower one captured the attention of people all over the globe.
He played in the IPL for the first time in 2016, and his deadly yorker to KKR all-rounder Andre Russell made him famous. He made an impression on SRH the previous year and hoped to continue that success in 2017. After adding Mustafizur to the board for INR 1 Cr, RR obtained his services.
